Chisel Stainless Steel Brushed with Wood Inlay 8.75 inch Link Bracelet 25 Learn more about brothers Junius, Richard, and Thomas. What did they have in common? For many years, three of Marcellus’ sons worked in the business, MC Waller & Sons Jewelers, repairing clocks, watches, and jewelry. These 3 brothers are the only siblings who had children. Marcellus Carrington Waller, Jr., the second son of Marcellus and Nannie Waller, preferred to be called “Junius” and changed his name accordingly. Junius worked in the family watch and jewelry repair business, and for several years, he operated a second jewelry store on 1st Street, and later Clay Street. He served in the military and married Geneva Spruill. Junius and Geneva were blessed with one daughter, Elsie Aretha. Richard Alexander, the fifth son of Marcellus and Nannie, married Florence Dungee. This union was abundantly blessed with six beautiful and loving children. Richard Alexander, Jr., the first born and only son was followed by the birth of daughters Jewel Elizabeth, Joyce Dungee, and Lillian Fannie Regina, before they were blessed with twin daughters, Betty Louise and Barbara Florence. Thomas, the last child born to Marcellus and Nannie, married Marie Carter. They were proud parents of one daughter, Jean Marie, who was born just one week after Richard, Jr.’s birth. It was amazing that the brothers, who were very close, had their first offspring exactly one week apart.

With proper care, your pearl jewelry will maintain its beauty for generations. Follow these simple guidelines to keep your pearls lustrous and elegant.

Daily Care

  • Put pearls on last when dressing - after makeup, perfume, and hairspray
  • Wipe gently with a soft, damp cloth after each wearing to remove body oils
  • Avoid contact with cosmetics, perfumes, lotions, and hairsprays
  • Remove pearls before swimming, showering, or exercising
  • Don't wear pearls while applying makeup or styling hair

Storage

  • Store separately from other jewelry to prevent scratching
  • Use the soft pouch provided with your purchase
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources
  • Avoid plastic bags - pearls need to breathe
  • Store flat for necklaces to prevent stretching
  • Keep in a cool, dry place with some humidity

Cleaning

  • Use only a soft, damp cloth - microfiber or cotton
  • Never use ultrasonic cleaners or steam cleaners
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, detergents, and abrasive cleaners
  • Don't soak pearls in water or cleaning solutions
  • Let air dry completely before storing

Pro Tip

Wearing your pearls regularly actually helps maintain their luster! The natural oils from your skin keep pearls hydrated and beautiful.

Things to Avoid

  • Chlorine (swimming pools) - damages pearl luster
  • Salt water - can dry out and damage pearls
  • Vinegar, lemon juice, or other acids
  • Hair spray and perfume - contains alcohol and chemicals
  • Excessive heat and direct sunlight
  • Storing in a safe deposit box for long periods (too dry)
